JL-types' typeface collection gives you a superb solution for writing and printing practically all European languages both on MacOS (6-9 and 10) and Windows (3.1, 95/98, NT, 2000, XP, and Vista) environments. Cyrillic fonts have been most popular, because Russian language has played an important role in trade, culture and foreign policy in Finland. Also the need for Central and Northern European fonts has been permanent.

JL-types' typeface packages include also keyboard layouts, that are necessary for typing different languages using a standard national keyboard layout. Typeface packages for European languages include also transparent keyboard stickers. You can buy keyboard stickers also separately.

Cyrillic (Russian) typefaces

kyrilliset

In every Cyrillic typeface package there are both 7 and 8 bit encoded typefaces as well as Unicode encoded typefaces. The character enconding of 7 bit typefaces is based on KOI-7 character set (GOST 13062-74) both on Macintosh and Windows. You can transfer texts without any conversion between both platforms.

The character set in the 8 bit Cyrillic typefaces for Macintosh is the same as in the Russian system software for Macintosh. The encoding in the 8 bit Windows typefaces is based on the ISO standard 8859:5 and Microsoft Windows code page 1251 (Cyrillic Windows character set). In both 8 bit typefaces there are also Latin alphabets. Windows packages include also Unicode version of Cyrillic fonts.

On all Cyrillic typefaces you can write except Russian and Bulgarian also Ukrainian, Belarus, Serbian and Macedonian. On the 7 bit typefaces there are also accented Russian vowel characters, needed in language teaching and school books.

Here you can see examples of all JL-types' Cyrillic typefaces.

On Cyrillic 7 bit Macintosh typefaces you can write also many other languages applying the Cyrillic alphabets.
