JL-types' barcode fonts

JL-types offers barcode font packages for the most popular barcode standards (Code128, GS1-128, GTIN/EAN 13, Code 39 and Interleaved 2/5). Among them there is the first EAN font in the world, ViisasEAN, that take advantage of new features of OpenType technology.

JLCode128

JLCode128 is a barcode typeface, that includes a complete set of Code 128 barcode characters. It support A, B, and C code sets. Additionally, the package include also a Excel-documents, that lets you e.g. enter data needed in Finnish bank transfer system and that creates proper Code 128 sequences. You can use JLCode128 font also for parcel barcodes of Itella (former: Finland Post Corporation) and for GSI-128 symbology like SSCC barcodes.

JLEAN

JLEAN package includes two fonts for creating GTIN/EAN13, GTIN/EAN8, ISBN, ISSN and UPC12 barcodes: full height font JLEAN and half height font JLEAN Matala. This package includes also an Excel-document, that calculates the proper barcode sequence.

The former European standard EAN (European Article Number) has merged with e.g. UPC into a global standard GTIN (Global Trade Item Numbers). That's why we are using now both names.

JLEAN

You can produce on JLEAN fonts also EAN AddOns, which are needed e.g. for denoting different issues on newspapers and periodicals.

ViisasEAN

This is the first and only one in this kind - as far we know!

ViisasEAN [Finnish "WiseEAN"] is an OpenType, that can build automatically proper GTIN/EAN code sequence without any auxiary programs. You can use this font on applications, that understand OpenType features: on Mac OS and Windows Adobe's CS programs (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photohop) and Redlex's Mellel on Mac OS. By now unfortunately ViisasEAN does not work on any other programs.

ViisasEAN is by far the easiest way to create functional GTIN/EAN barcodes on product packages an ISBN and ISSN barcodes on puplications: just write asterisk + 13 numbers + asterisk (for example: *6417547157168*), choose some of ViisasEAN fontfaces, and that's it. You'll get a proper barcode section without any further steps.

In the ViisasEAN font package there are five different faces: ViisasEAN Matala (low), MelkoMatala (quite low), Tavallinen (normal), AikaKorkea (rather high), and Korkea (high). You see all faces in the picture below.

EAN

You can produce also AddOn barcodes using ViisasEAN fonts. These are needed e.g. on publications for denoting the issue. Unfortunately OpenType features can not produce the check digit on AddOn barcodes. You can calculate it using Excel or OpenOffie spreadsheets provided on the font package.

JLCode39

JLCode39 font package includes fonts for creating Code 39 barcodes: half height fonts JLCode39L and JLCode39LV:

39L

... and full height fonts JLCode39H and JLCode39HV:

39LV

JLCode39LV and JLCode39HV have visible characters under the barcodes

The font package includes also an Excel and OpenOffice spreadsheet, that adds start and stop codes and calculates – if necessary – the check code.

JL Interleaved 2/5

JJL Interleaved 2/5 package contains four fonts for creating Interleaved 2/5 barcodes: half high fonts JL Interleaved 2of5 L and JL Interleaved 2of5 LV and full high fonts JL Interleaved 2of5 H and JL Interleaved 2of5 HV. This package includes also an an Excel and OpenOffice spreadsheet, that calculates the proper barcode sequence.
